Call for Nominations for Humanities, Ethics and Professionalism Consortium

We are seeking candidates for the open positions of Vice-chair and 1 nominating committee member.

 

Membership:  The members will be any faculty members in physical therapy or physical therapist assistant programs interested in the humanities, ethics, and professionalism.

 

Purpose:  The consortium advocates for the importance of the humanities, ethics, and professionalism in physical therapy education practice because excellence in clinical practice requires the ability to make a meaningful connection with the patient and make decisions in uncertain circumstances. The consortium provides a forum for discussion of the art of physical therapy and the lived experience of patients, and consortium provides a platform for sharing resources that focus on how to teach the humanities, ethics, and professionalism in physical therapy education.

 

Objectives: The consortium will

a. Discuss and explore the role of humanities, ethics and professionalism in physical therapy.

b. Advocate for the emphasis of the humanities, ethics, and professionalism in physical therapy education.

c. Balance the three pillars of evidence-based practice.

d. Serve as a platform for sharing resources that focus on the humanities, ethics, and professionalism.

 

Governance and Operation:

a. Current meetings of the steering committee

b. Elected officers installed at ELC 2017

c. General membership meeting at ELC 2016
