For the first time, the headwinds of debt have reached a level that threatens the economic value of the PT degree. Today, outstanding prospective students must weigh the value of a PT degree against a host of other healthcare professions. Since its inception over 100 years ago, PT has been a grassroots profession comprised of people from various economic backgrounds. Our profession, by virtue of its educational cost, is running the risk of losing many students who lack the financial resources to enter our field. To meet these headwinds we believe that it will take bold leadership. Accordingly, we have assembled an outstanding team of people including: APTA/ACAPT/IPTA leadership, academic/clinical leaders, and recent graduates to develop solutions to confront these challenges.
