National Consortium of Clinical Educators (NCCE)

NCCE lttrhd-final-04282020

The National Consortium of Clinical Educators (NCCE) engages academic and clinical educators through partnerships to advance excellence and innovation in physical therapist education.

How to join NCCE

NCCE represents clinical education faculty (academic and clinical) affiliated with entry-level programs that are ACAPT member institutions who serve in clinical education roles.**

Each ACAPT member institution should support the participation of one clinical education team - the NCCE Academic & Clinical Institutional Pair - consisting of:

  • at least one academic faculty member and
  • one clinical education affiliate directly involved with the member institution's clinical education program.

The academic faculty member is responsible for registering and maintaining accurate contact information.

See NCCE benefits and FAQ.

Have You Registered Your NCCE Team?

Register your NCCE Academic & Clinical Institutional Pair below. Only team registrations will be accepted; please have emails for both team members ready prior to initiating the registration process.

If you have a change in team membership, please contact the NCCE Secretary, Jamie Bayliss, at ncce@acapt.org

Don't miss out on important discussions - Register for our Clinical Education Open Forum!

NCCE's mission

To lead a culture of shared accountability for physical therapist education by connecting stakeholders across academic and practice communities to facilitate integration of best practices in clinical education.

Our objectives are to support ACAPT's mission to promote excellence in physical therapy education by:

  • Fostering academic-clinical partnerships that provide a collective voice in academic physical therapy in support of clinical education.

  • Being a leader in advancing a clinical education research agenda that guides data driven decision making.

  • Cultivating a national infrastructure to support efficient and effective sharing of clinical education information/resources to advance a collaborative culture of quality clinical education.

  • Influencing the development of academic and clinical educator leaders.

  • The NCCE will meet at least once annually at ELC in conjunction with the annual meeting of the ACAPT and, when possible, during CSM.

Common terminology

In 2017, ACAPT's National Consortium of Clinical Educators (NCCE) developed ACAPT's Physical Therapists Clinical Education Glossary to address the problem that academic and clinical faculty often use different terminology when describing their work within physical therapy education.

** Directors of Clinical Education (DCE), Academic Coordinators of Clinical Education (ACCEs), Clinical Faculty - e.g. Site Coordinators of Clinical Education (SCCE) and Clinical Instructors (CI), Clinical Education Coordinators (CEC), and Clinical Administrators/Managers (CAM).

NCCE will be hosting 6 webinars in 2022.  If you share interest or expertise in one of the topics below, please email Matt Calendrillo at mcal@liveeveryday.org to get involved.
