ACAPT is Comprised of Member Institutions:

  1. Institutions of higher education located in the United States of America with a physical therapist education program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) and pays the annual dues to ACAPT shall be Member Institutions of ACAPT.
  2. Member Institutions shall be represented by one program director or one full-time core faculty member (as defined by CAPTE) in the program as designated by the program director (hereinafter referred to as the Representative.)
    • Member Institutions shall identify their Representative each year at the time dues are paid.
    • Member Institutions with more than one separately accredited physical therapist education program may have one Representative for each of those accredited physical therapist education programs.
    • Each Representative from any Member Institution must be a member in good standing of the Association.
    • The Member Institution may change their Representative by written notice at any time to the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy (ACAPT).

    A faculty member or clinical affiliate of a Member Institution who has been confirmed through the Member Institution’s Representative shall be admitted to membership.

The National Consortium of Clinical Educators (NCCE) represents academic and clinical educators and serves as a resource and forum for individuals who have professional interest and responsibilities for the implementation and evaluation of clinical education for physical therapists.

Board of Directors Position Descriptions

GENERAL:
  • Carry out the mandates and policies of the Council.  Between Annual Meetings the Board of Directors may make and enforce such policy on behalf of the Council as is not inconsistent with the mandates and policies determined by the Council.
  • Foster the growth and development of the Council.
  • Direct all business and financial affairs of the Council, including approving an annual budget.
  • Be responsible for creation, appointment, purposes and activities of such committees as it deems necessary.
  • Be responsible for the program, time, and place of the Annual meeting of the Council.
PRESIDENT
  • The President shall preside at all meetings of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee.
  • The President shall be responsible for relations with groups or individuals external to the Council, within or outside of the Association (e.g. Association headquarters, chapters, educational associations, etc).
  • The president shall submit an annual written report of the activities of the Council at the Annual Meeting.
VICE PRESIDENT
  • The Vice President shall serve as the Presiding Officer at Meetings of the Council.
  • The Vice President shall assume the duties of the President if the President is absent or incapacitated.
  • The Vice President shall assume assignments as delegated by the President, the Executive Committee, or the Board of Directors.
  • The Vice President shall be responsible for the Bylaws
