Book Club on Small Teaching Online Part 2

When:

ACAPT's Education and Pedagogy Consortium is reading the book "Small Teaching Online" by Flower Darby and James Lang and facilitating its second discussion about online teaching. The book provides practical, evidence-based strategies to incorporate into online teaching. Discussion will provide an in-depth discussion on best teaching practices in the online/hybrid model.

Individual members of ACAPT member institutions can join the Education & Pedagogy Consortium for free.

Date & Time: Wednesday, February 10 at 1:00-2:00 pm EST

Target Audience: PT educators, including junior/senior faculty who are interested in best practices for teaching online or hybrid environments.

Learning Objectives:

  • Apply "small teaching online" core learning principles to support effective learning in an online environment.
  • Discuss ways to enhance motivation for students in an online environment.

Discussion Facilitator: Shawn Drake, PT, PhD, CSCS

Dr. Shawn Drake serves as the Department Chair for the Arkansas State University Physical Therapy department. Dr. Drake completed the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education for the APTA Education Leadership Institute Fellowship in July 2014. Dr. Drake holds certifications from the Barcelona Scoliosis Physiotherapy School (Schroth certified), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) (Program Director and Clinical Exercise Specialist, Exercise is Medicine- Level 3), and National Strength and Conditioning Association (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist). She has published articles in Muscle & Nerve, Journal of Electromyography and Kinesiology, and ACSM’s Resource Manual. Dr. Drake currently serves as the Chair of the ACAPT Education and Pedagogy Consortia.
