Contemporary legal issues in physical therapy clinical education webinar

When:

This webinar brings together a panel of experts to explore common legal issues within clinical education. Specifically, a case-based approach will be used to discuss:

  1. How to be confident that you can dismiss a student.
  2. Legal issues around common accommodations in clinical education.

The panel will then address participant questions related to contemporary issues in PT clinical education, such as: criminal background checks, telehealth supervision, medical/legal marijuana use, COVID (exposure and vaccine; potential resultant delayed graduation and legal ramifications):

Target audience: PT educators, Academic Faculty, Clinical Educators, and Clinical Instructors.

ACAPT membership

See ACAPT member institutions here. A faculty member or clinical affiliate of a member institution, and who are members in good standing of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), may be individual members of ACAPT. Individual members do not pay dues to ACAPT.

Learning objectives: By the end of the webinar, the attendee will:

  • Identify when it is necessary to reach out to general counsel and when it is not.
  • Be able to explain the importance of policy and procedure in clinical education.
  • Be able to justify the University’s stance on marijuana use and ability to participate in the clinic (including in states where there is legal use).
  • Be confident that the institution is in appropriate legal standing when dismissing a student.
  • Be able to revise/draft your current policy and procedures based on what are considered reasonable accommodations in clinical education.

Fee

  • $20 for ACAPT members (includes recording)
  • $30 for non-members (includes recording)
  • Recording will be available post-webinar ($20- ACAPT members; $30-non-members)
