Research in the time of COVID: adaptations and opportunities webinar (RIPPT sixth webinar)
When:
The RIPPT seminar series is a monthly research-focused webinar that provides an interactive forum on topics of interest to the community of researchers in physical therapy and rehabilitation related fields.
This month’s 60-minute seminar is focused on the impact and lasting effects of COVID-19 on rehabilitation research and researchers.
- The panelists will present their experiences adapting their research programs to COVID-19 restrictions or expanding to apply their research techniques to patients recovering from COVID.
- Attendees will be provided ample opportunity to reflect and discuss what we have learned about “virtual” research practices and mentorship that may be carried forward into our PhD education programs.
Target audience: Faculty, post-docs, program directors/chairs, PhD students, and others interested in learning about strategies and experiences used by rehabilitation researchers in response to COVID-19 and discussing the implications to their own research.

Learning objectives: The participant will reflect and identify:
- The impact of COVID-19 on rehabilitation research – challenges and opportunities
- Pivoting research to another population, in this case, the outcomes of COVID-19 infection
- Possible “virtual” research practices and mentorship that may be carried forward into our PhD education programs
