Needs assessment to guide curricular development in simulation (webinar)

When:

 

This webinar has been developed to provide participants with an understanding of the essential elements of a needs assessment to support the use of simulation based education to create significant learning in students.

  • Dr. Angela MacCabe will provide evidence based standards of best practice for simulation based experiences (SBE).
  • Participants will learn how to:
    • Identify curricular gaps, conduct a SWOT analysis to determine if simulation is the best mode of instruction.
    • Find simulation experts to assist in the development of SBE.
    • Receive concrete examples of needs assessments for SBE within DPT education.

Learning objectives

Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Describe foundational best practices that are essential in simulation case development. 
  • Develop a needs assessment for creating a simulation-based learning experience. 
  • Utilize best practices in simulation pedagogy in the early development of a case, including a needs assessment.  
  • Integrate a SWOT analysis in the creation of a simulation-based learning experience.

  • Physical therapy educators and academic faculty who are interested in simulation-based learning
  • Program chairs who are implanting simulation-based learning experiences in their curricula.
