Thanks to our unsung heroes - PT faculty, professional staff and clinical educators

Jul 13, 2020

Updated: November 25, 2020

This Thanksgiving, we're reminded how lucky we are and send our thanks again to our Unsung Heroes!

---------------

These extraordinarily challenging times have reminded us of the many unsung heroes that keep our world moving forward. Among them are our physical therapy faculty, professional staff, and clinical educators.

We know you have spent countless hours keeping students on track, pivoting from traditional delivery to online education, rescheduling face-to-face experiences and in general trying to keep everything on track so that students will not be delayed for degree completion. We know the challenges of planning for safe return to classrooms, clinical sites, and labs and the many modifications that you have all put in place. We have heard how many faculty are conducting multiple labs in small groups to ensure safety, thus adding more hours to an already long workday.

We recognize you have placed the need for taking care of others as your highest priority and this has kept you from getting ahead of your own goals, including the pursuit of opportunities for promotion and tenure and general self-care. We know you are perpetually stressed, exhausted, and perhaps even a little dispirited.

While we cannot lessen these burdens, we can say this:

We see you. We see the results of your work and you make such an incredibly, positive difference.
Students graduated against many odds. Others are starting or returning, despite new challenges.
We thank you for the extraordinary, unselfish work you do every day.
You are our unsung heroes.

With gratitude,
The ACAPT Board of Directors
