How to pursue a career in academic physical therapy

Many institutions have unfilled faculty positions in their Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) programs, but many who want to join the ranks of academia are uncertain of the best next steps.

• A 3-part video series, hosted by the ACAPT's Student Leadership Development Committee, provides an opportunity to explore and learn how to move from clinician to faculty. The webinars are self-paced, allowing the participant to implement steps toward securing a faculty position along the way.  
  
  
• ACAPT also worked with several faculty to offer webinars to historically-black colleges and universities (HBCUs), the APTA California Chapter and others to deliver a webinar explaining: Value of a PhD, post-professional education & career in PT academia.  
  
  
• We're encouraging a diverse group of students, faculty and clinicians to consider an academic PT career pathway and have many resources to help.
