ACAPT is a proud member of the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) & below is a recap of their recent meeting from ACAPT's rep Kimberly Beran-Shepler, PT, DPT.

Global interprofessional research

• To investigate the processes supporting interprofessional education (IPE) program development & implementation globally, the Global Network for Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice Research (IPR.Global) conducted a study in 2020-2021 & developed these global IPE situational analysis results.  A similar study will be conducted in 2025.

IPEC core competencies

IPEC will release its updated core competencies in fall 2023.  Revisions include:

• A focus on DEI, IPE leadership and resilience
• A decrease in sub-competencies from 39 to 33
• An increase in sub-competencies related to the domain of values & ethics 
• A decrease in roles & responsibilities sub-competencies

IPEC scoping literature review

• This study seeks to determine if IPE has a direct impact on the quality of care.  The full results will be published soon. Physical therapy was not well represented in the literature.
