Model Practice Act (MPA) for Physical Therapy (7th edition)

Aug 7, 2023

The MPA is an influential document for state jurisdictions to support statutory & regulatory change in physical therapy's scope of practice. Recent updates include:

  • Physical therapists providing telehealth must have a license or Compact in the state where the patient resides.
  • PTs must also verify identity and the location of where the patient is when treatment is rendered.
  • MPA now recognizes the evolving niche practice of animal physical therapy when the PT/PTA has the required education and training.
