How are DPT programs across the country addressing social determinants of health (SDOH) in their curricula? What approaches are gaining traction? What challenges remain? And what resources can help programs move forward?
Join the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy Institute of Teaching and Learning for the newly introduced Brown Bag Lunch Series session featuring the Task Force to Develop a Systems Approach to Social Determinants of Health in Physical Therapy Curriculum.
Over the past two years, the task force examined how DPT programs are incorporating SDOH concepts into educational experiences, surveyed programs nationwide, and developed practical resources to support faculty and programs.
During this session, attendees will:
Explore national survey findings from DPT programs
Learn how institutions are integrating SDOH throughout the curriculum
Review common instructional strategies and emerging trends
Gain access to resources developed by the task force, including a glossary, annotated bibliography, and screening tool resources
Discuss opportunities and challenges facing programs as they prepare future physical therapists for contemporary practice
Share perspectives and collaborate with colleagues from across the country
Come learn what your colleagues are doing, discover resources you can use, and help shape future conversations around SDOH in physical therapy education.
