This self-assessment is designed to help you reflect on your leadership growth across 12 key categories from ACAPT’s Leadership Compass. Whether you’re a student, faculty member, or academic leader, this tool helps you identify your strengths, set personal goals, and support long-term development.

Step 1: Review Each Leadership Category
- The self-assessment includes 12 leadership categories, each with outcomes organized by:
- Developing – leading yourself
- Relating – working with others
- Influencing – mentoring or leading others
Step 2: Rate Yourself
- For each outcome, rate your current level of competence on a scale from 0 to 4:
- 0 = No experience or awareness
- 1 = Beginning to explore this area
- 2 = Developing consistency or confidence
- 3 = Comfortable and competent
- 4 = Highly skilled; often mentor others
Step 3: Reflect
- Read the custom reflection prompt next to each outcome.
- Write a brief response, example, or observation in the space provided.
Step 4: Set a Goal
- Use the “Next Step / Goal” column to identify one action you could take to build that specific skill or behavior.
📊 How to Use the Summary Sheet
The Summary tab helps you take a big-picture look at your self-assessment.
Fill in:
- Average Rating (0–4) for each leadership category (based on the 3 outcomes)
- Identify your:
- Top Strength (a category or outcome where you scored highest or feel most confident)
- Area for Growth (a category or outcome where you want to focus development)
This can help you:
- Build a personalized leadership development plan
- Prepare for mentoring or advising conversations
- Track progress over time
