Adventures in linking research with clinical practice, and some important trail notes

ACAPT's Research-Intensive Programs in Physical Therapy (RIPPT) promotes academic excellence by strengthening the community of research-intensive physical therapy programs in ACAPT. Individual members of ACAPT member institutions can join RIPPT for free.

The RIPPT seminar series is a monthly webinar that provides an interactive forum on topics of interest to the community of researchers, academics, and clinicians in physical therapy and rehabilitation-related fields.

The overarching theme for 2022 is: How research informs clinical practice and clinical practice informs research.

During this 60-minute seminar, Dr. Christine McDonough shares her experience in health services research and efforts to link it to clinical practice, and her perspective on Learning Health Systems research. She then discusses resources for rehabilitation researchers in these areas.

Learning objectives: The participant will reflect and identify:

  • Opportunities to link health services research with clinical practice
  • Resources to advance knowledge and skills in health services research
  • Resources to advance knowledge and skills in Learning Health Systems

  • Christine M. McDonough, PT, PhD, Assistant Professor, Department of Physical Therapy, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Pittsburgh

  • Deborah L. Givens, PT, DPT, PhD, FAPTA, Dr. Margaret Lee Moore Distinguished Professor in Physical Therapy, Director, Division of Physical Therapy, UNC at Chapel Hill
