ACAPT Invites Applicants for New Work Group on Inpatient Clinical Education Preparation

The American Council of Academic Physical Therapy (ACAPT) is pleased to announce a new Work Group: Academic Program Approaches to Prepare Graduates for Inpatient Clinical Practice.

This Work Group builds upon the findings of the Clinical Education Placement Capacity and Process Innovation Task Force (PCPITF) to explore how academic programs can prepare students for inpatient practice amidst limited clinical education capacity.

Who Should Apply:
We are seeking 8–10 participants, including:

  • Directors of Clinical Education (DCEs)
  • Program Directors or Associate Directors
  • Faculty focused on inpatient curriculum
  • Inpatient Clinical Instructors
  • Curriculum committee members
  • Recent DPT graduates (<2 years)
  • Individuals with data and educational innovation expertise

Participation in an ACAPT Work Group is a prestigious service opportunity that reflects thought leadership, innovation, and a commitment to advancing academic physical therapy. Members will collaborate to produce:

  • A national-level database of clinical education requirements
  • Innovative toolkits for inpatient preparation
  • Best-practice recommendations for curricular alignment

Time Commitment:

  • Duration: Fall 2025–Fall 2026
  • Meetings: Monthly (60 minutes) plus subgroup work
  • Estimated time: 35–55 hours total

The Work Group will present findings in 2026 via an ACAPT webinar and other dissemination opportunities.
