APTA Collaborative for Physical Therapy Education

The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) has established the Collaborative for Physical Therapy Education to foster collaboration
among organizational stakeholders toward achieving the aims of A Vision for Excellence in Physical Therapy EducationThe collaborative will foster awareness, communication, and coordination to achieve the aims of the vision that include six major pillars and 22 guiding principles.

The rationale for creating the collaborative includes:

  1. The long-standing identified need to advance physical therapy education.
  2. Recognition that no one organization has the resources to achieve all aims.
  3. Belief that awareness, communication, coordination, and collaboration will increase the likelihood of achieving the vision.
  4. Use of inclusive collaborative approach to facilitate change.
  5. Past success within this community with both “achieving a vision” and being “Better Together.”

The collaborative launched on Feb. 21, 2023, with 22 participating organizations:
