Educating for professional identity: setting a new course

ACAPT's Consortium of Humanities, Ethics & Professionalism (CHEP) provides a forum for discussion of the art of physical therapy and the lived experience of patients. CHEP also provides a platform for sharing resources that focus on how to teach the humanities, ethics, and professionalism in physical therapy education. Individual members of ACAPT member institutions can join CHEP for free.

This session explores key issues in educating for professionalism in physical therapy. The session built on the 2021 Cerasoli lecture and explore historical models of professionalism. Participants discussed how ethics and humanities may contribute to professional identity formation in a "post-professional world."
