ACAPT continues important strategic work

Aug 17, 2020

ACAPT leaders and member volunteers are continuing their work on important initiatives for PT education, including the list below.  These task forces are preparing preliminary reports for ACAPT's board by the fall and we'll keep you posted as more defined plans develop:

  • Essentials for a DPT program:  This task force is working to establish a blueprint for excellence in PT education curricula.

  • Explore data & technology to evaluate program outcomes: This task force is exploring what data is currently available versus that which needs to be acquired, along with the technology, systems, and costs needed for ACAPT to assess program outcomes relative to the Criteria for Excellence.

  • Explore the creation of an excellence recognition model: This task force is exploring everything needed for ACAPT to establish a peer-based, multi-faceted recognition system similar to the ASPIRE model, capable of evaluating and recognizing excellence in PT academic programs across many attributes.

  • Clinical education placement process: With ACAPT's National Consortium of Clinical Educators (NCCE), this task force seeks to evaluate existing models within PT and other health professions to identify processes that would maximize resources, efficiencies and outcomes in the placement of entry-level PT students.

  • Task force to enhance program awareness to student-clinician mental health and wellness.
Look for a member survey in early September where we'll ask for YOUR input about strategic initiatives and priorities.
