PT honor student inductee Rashi Anand

Below is an ACAPT interview with one of the National Physical Therapy Student Honor Society inductees.  Congratulations Rashi!

How did you become interested in pursuing a doctor of physical therapy (DPT) degree?

I became interested in pursuing a DPT degree after witnessing firsthand the impact it has had on others. I have always wanted to pursue a field related to health and medicine and was drawn to PT for its holistic approach to providing rehabilitative care to patients.

Additionally, growing up as an athlete and a dancer,  I have always appreciated the potential of the human body and wanted to pursue a degree that would allow me to use my aforementioned passion of movement to help others.

What’s been your experience as a student so far & what do you enjoy the most?

My experience as a student has been challenging, however, extremely rewarding at the same time. I have had the opportunity to work alongside highly reputable faculty, have had opportunities to attend social events to build a networking profile, and have made everlasting friendships.

The most enjoyable aspect of PT school has been participating in clinical rotations. I have officially completed all three rotations and have learned to manage a full new grad caseload, which to me is surreal but extremely satisfying.

How do you plan to give back in your career, community, etc.?

I plan to give back to this career and the community by serving as an educator. I hope to one day mentor and educate physical therapy students as either a professor or a clinical educator.

I'd like to mentor students so they continue to hone their confidence in clinical reasoning and as practitioners.

Why did you become a member of the National PT Student Honor Society?

I want to give back to my George Washington University community that has watched me grow as a person and as a professional. I want to represent my school on a national platform because, without this community of driven faculty and students, I would not be where I am currently.

Additionally, being recognized by the National PT Student Honor Society is an accolade that demonstrates my hard work and my drive to serve as a positive role model for generations to succeed.
