ALA Open Positions

 

Purpose

The ACAPT Leadership Academy (ALA) Oversight Committee supports PT educators leadership development, identifies and cultivates the resources to achieve excellence in academic physical therapy; and supports and positions physical therapy programs to adapt to changing higher education environments and to lead innovation in academic physical therapy. The ALA Oversight Committee oversees several sub-committees that address specific aspects of leadership.

Oversight Committee (2 members)

The ALA Oversight Committee provides vision and leadership for the ALA, manages the ALA budget, collaborates with ACAPT staff to plan and evaluate success of leadership development offerings and activities, and report to the ACAPT Board regularly.

Qualifications:  

  • Interest in and commitment to leadership development 
  • Faculty, program director, senior administrator in an ACAPT member institution
  • Graduate of a leadership development program (preferred)

This is a three-year term starting starting immediately until October 2024.

Student Leadership Development Subcommittee (1 student member)

The Student Leadership Development Subcommittee identifies and creates mechanisms to expose students to leadership development opportunities in collaboration with the Student Assembly. Projects include, but not limited to, programs at National Student Conclave, articles in publications/social media, website resources, and online training modules. The subcommittee also creates and promulgates career paths to guide students/residents/fellows from student/resident/fellow to the academy. 

Qualifications:

  • DPT student enrolled in the first or second year of an accredited DPT program that is an ACAPT member institution.
  • Should have an interest in leadership development. 

This is a 1 year term with potential to be appointed for a second year.

Leadership Summit Planning Subcommittee (2 members)

The Leadership Summit Subcommittee develops and coordinates the delivery programming for ELC for the 4 leadership levels.  Levels:  Level 1, self-development; leading self, Level 2, leading and influencing others, Level 3, mentoring others.

Qualifications: 

  • Experience on ACAPT or component programming committee or a graduate of a leadership development program
  • Ability to recruit speakers and evaluate speaker credentials
  • Contacts with leaders inside and outside physical therapy education
  • Recognized as a leadership development provider

This is a three-year term starting starting immediately until October 2024.

Webinar Curriculum Content Sub-committee (2 members)

The Leadership Development Content Subcommittee implements the ACAPT Leadership Academy (ALA) Leadership Development online curriculum, identifies speakers, determines delivery modes and a timeline for content delivery, collaborates with ACAPT, APTA and its components, and external organizations to create and deliver content. 

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a leadership development program (preferred)
  • Interest in leadership development

This is a three-year term starting starting immediately until October 2024.
