Having a Seat at the Table Part 2: Promoting Clinical Education Within Healthcare Institutions

This webinar is provided through ACAPT National Consortium for Clinical Educators (NCCE) & ACAPT Leadership Academy (ALA).

The second in a two-part series of leadership webinars about Having a Seat at the Table. The first webinar focused on elevating the role of DPT programs within an institution. This second webinar shifts to the clinical side: Promoting DPT clinical education in a healthcare system. 

 From clinical instructor (CI) to site coordinator of clinical education (SCCE) to interdisciplinary program manager for the student experience, speaker Chrissy Ropp, PT, DPT, GCS, CEAA, shares her leadership journey, including strategies to:

  • Promote the growth & value of clinical education to internal stakeholders & external groups.
  • Demonstrate ways clinical education provides leadership opportunities within and outside your organization.
  • Advance an individual leader by developing a strong CE program that promotes value to the organization, patients, clinicians & partner programs.
  • Create a network of support of Clinical Education in the healthcare system.
  • Optimize interdisciplinary collaboration while respecting professional autonomies.

Presenter -- Chrissy Ropp, DPT, GCS, CEEAA

Christina Ropp is the Program Manager Student Experience for OSF HealthCare. Chrissy received her BS in Physical Therapy form Mount St. Mary’s College in Los Angeles, CA in 1994 and her DPT from St. Ambrose University in 2007. Through a long tenure in acute care neurologic and geriatric physical therapy, her passion has always been in education; educating patients, students, coworkers and herself. Her initial work in Physical Therapy education was done as a clinical instructor and progressed to SCCE of one facility which eventually grew to managing the interdisciplinary student program for OSF HealthCare Rehabilitation. Participation in the Academy of Education and in ACAPT NCCE focused on providing a voice to the clinical sites related to clinical education. Currently, Chrissy serves as the Program Manager Student Experience for OSF HealthCare focusing on streamlining and aligning student programming through the organization and improving the clinical experiences of students from all disciplines. Chrissy is currently the ACAPT clinical partner or Bradley University.
