New Session! Simulation Instructor Training for Rehabilitation Professionals (SITReP)

    New session added for Nov/Dec 2024 @ The Ohio State University

    The Simulation Instructor Training for Rehabilitation Professionals is a hybrid program designed to prepare rehab professional educators in developing and delivering simulation-based learning experiences following standards of best practice.

    Participants will complete interactive online learning modules and an in-person program, including:

    • 3 virtual modules to be completed over 3 weeks between Nov & Dec, 2024 - to gain knowledge about simulation education, design, and best practices in developing scenarios followed by:

    • 2-day in-person program in Dec, 2024 - focusing on applying principles through experiential learning, including prebriefing, facilitation and debriefing.

    Who should attend

    This course is appropriate for individuals with and without simulation experience - and is designed for rehabilitation professionals interested in designing and delivering simulation-based learning in their academic and/or clinical curriculum, including:

    • Physical therapists
    • Occupational therapists
    • Respiratory therapists
    • Speech and language pathologists

    Maximum enrollment is 18 participants.  

    Objectives

    1. Explore foundational theories that underlie simulation-based education.
    2. Identify best practices for developing an effective simulation-based learning experience for rehabilitation professionals.
    3. Design an evidence-based simulation-based learning experience for rehabilitation professionals based upon specific learner needs.
    4. Demonstrate skills required to facilitate essential components of a simulation-based learning experience for rehabilitation professionals.
    5. Advocate for the optimal use of simulation in rehabilitation education.

    Course Overview

    The course schedule begins with 3 hybrid sessions blending  asynchronous, self-directed learning with synchronous, live sessions and culminates in a 2-day in person program at OSU.

    The course fee of $1200 includes:

    • All virtual and in-person learning materials 
    • 30 contact hours certification/3.0 CEUs
    • Use of the simulation lab at The Ohio State University
    • Lunches and snacks for the in-person sessions

    The fee does not include travel expenses or hotel accommodation. ACAPT will work with OSU recommended hotel for a low, group rate.
